My first post-summer lighting design is Reading Operatic Society‘s Die Fledermaus, which will be staged at the Hexagon Reading. There are three acts to light and that will bring some challenges but I already have the stage plan and, given my current break between jobs, have enough time to get the stencil out and do my usual thrice sucking of gums prior to committing to lanterns and colours so no excuses!
ROS performed a preview of the show in April at the Geoff Bamford tribute concert and things seemed pretty together then so it should be a good show. Geoff lit the last ROS production of this show in 1999 and I worked on it with him just before going off on my Round Britain trip. So things must have been quite frantic then although I’m not sure I remember that now.
