There’s been a lot of work going on to transform the du Pré plc brand, reflecting its move from a telecommunication specialist to fully converged IT and communications services. The latest step was to completely relaunch the company website to represent its key focus areas and also to provide it with a responsive template for use on all screen sizes including mobiles and tablets.
I created the new site using WordPress, which has become my content management system of choice for most site builds in recent times. The design was also based around an established set of templates and hence, most of the hours were able to be devoted to the actual site design and content, rather than a bespoke build. The result is also highly supportable in the future, so the focus can be on posting content and optimising search engine results, rather than geeky fettling of code.
I’ve lost count now of the number of times I have migrated websites from old to new platforms. It requires a very methodical approach and a level of knowledge to ensure no dip in traffic or enquiries. For example mapping all old indexed pages on Google to their new counterparts to ensure visitors don’t hit a dreaded error page. With just three seconds to impress a typical visitor before they get bored and go elsewhere, such things make a massive difference.
Needless to say all of that prep work has been done for this site and dupre.co.uk is well placed to support the next stages of the company’s long track record supporting schools and businesses across the UK.
