IPC Country & Leisure Media has announced the next phase of its Internet development strategy with the appointment of its first head of electronic media.
Kim Hollamby, currently group editor responsible for CALM’s internet development, marine portal ybw.com and marine B2B title International Boating Industry (IBI), has been appointed to the new role.
Kim will take on overall responsibility for the strategic development of CALM’s leading portfolio of 41 web brands, including www.countrylife.co.uk, www.decanter.com, www.horseandhound.co.uk, www.ybw.com and www.webuser.co.uk. CALM is introducing improvements to existing websites and its in-house team will be developing new tools to provide readers of its magazines with easier access to newsagent, subscription and archive information. It will also be offering advertisers a broader range of cross-media opportunities.
IPC CALM managing director Paul Williams says: “Kim has been absolutely central to the highly successful development of the IPC CALM web sites. During this time, 15 websites have been launched or redeveloped, delivering record subscriptions; ybw.com has seen a 500 per cent increase in users and moved into profit; IBI has been successfully redeveloped and sister title European Boatbuilder launched – a fantastic achievement.
“With the importance of websites to specialist magazine titles and the resultant pace of our web development, Kim’s new role will focus on driving forward these initiatives. With more than 20 years experience in the marine publishing industry, he will also retain consultative roles on ybw.com and IBI.”
Alongside Kim’s appointment, Keith Walker is promoted to the role of site editor for ybw.com, moving from his current role as content manager at IPC Focus Network, where he successfully implemented and developed the roll-out of 20 magazine microsites for the specialist division.
IBI deputy editor, Ed Slack is promoted to editor of IBI and IBINews.com. Since joining IBI in 1999, Ed has reported on many key international markets and was pivotal in the creation of a completely cross-media approach to editorial for IBI and its subsidiary brand European Boatbuilder.
And IPC Corporate Communications web co-ordinator Gemma Bailey becomes Focus Network’s content manager, after playing a significant part in the development team which launched the new-look IPC Media website and its associate website www.ipcadvertising.com last year.
